Autogard the “Torque” of the Hillhead Exhibition

Hillhead 2012 delivered as expected – 2 days of sun followed by a day of torrential rain!! 

Luckily the Rexnord stand was inside the main pavilion and as such, immune to the elements.

Hillhead takes place in a working quarry, covering some 140000 square metres. Visitor numbers over the three days in 2012 were 17,000+ (2010 saw 15,500) and many of those took the time to visit the Rexnord stand.

Featured on the stand were Rexnord Large Roller and Conveyor Chains; Samiflex, Autoflex, Falk and Thomas couplings; BSD Backstops and Clutches;  along with Autogard Torque Limiters.

Whilst there was interest in all the products, Torque limiters and the large Samiflex Coupling on display created a lot of talking points, with customers in the quarrying, mining and construction sectors keen to explore mechanical protection solutions to prevent damage to their equipment, which operates in the harshest of environments. With the huge torques involved in some of the large equipment used in these industries, mechanical overload protection, in the form of a completely disengaging torque limiter, can prevent a costly and time consuming repair before the damage occurs.

Maintenance engineers were also quick to see the benefits of the wrap style insert of the Samiflex coupling in terms of reduced maintenance time and many were surprised that the size range goes up to 20, 000 nm.
